Saturday the 24th of March will be host to our first ever Membership Drive, from 10am - 1pm weather permitting.
You'll have the perfect opportunity to come down, have a drive and learn more about us, with volunteers around to explain each and every aspect of how we run. The 2017 Year is nearing an end, with only 26 days until the big man shoots down the chimney! Our members are looking forward to it as well, so we will be having our final running day for 2017 on December 18th. We will then re-open for the new year, on January 18th, 2018. This should give our volunteers plenty of time to celebrate, and rejuvenate for the new year of trains! We hope you can join us for our final running day, make sure to share this around and let friends/family know. Thank you for understanding. We are running Saturday the 25th from 10am - 8pm with the Bloom Collective Market - Twilight Christmas Market and Sunday the 26th from 10am - 3pm, November 2017. We will be running both days, from 10am - 3pm weather permitting, with Steam, Petrol and Electric locomotives from all over the North Island visiting. Get tagging and sharing with your friends and family!
The Night Market has been a huge hit in previous years! Nothing beats some of the finest crafts and foods in Cambridge, along with a train ride before Christmas with family! Setup for a picnic on top of the tunnel, or splurge on some of the offerings at the market, it's all a good time! Rides are only $2 per person, with concession tickets available, and under 5's riding for free! Wooden Whistles are also a great early Christmas Present for the kids at only $6 each! Come on down for a ride over the weekend, to enjoy multiple different trains and an overall fun day in the park. We hope to see you all there! We've had a tidy up in the shed recently, and we've got a couple of items surplus to our requirements! A leaf blower and storage trolley are collecting dust, so we've listed them on Trade Me at $1 RESERVE, to get them to someone who can better use them. All funds from the auction will go straight back to the club. Check out the link below to see both listings: https://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=4408487 We finally have received our long awaited, brand new club locomotive 'Kiwirail DXR 8017'. This Petrol-Electric hauler was delivered today by the manufacturers 'Ikon Engineering' in Auckland, and had it's first ever laps around our tracks without (or with very little) public. As the crew got instructed on it's operation and each had a turn, we manged to snap some brilliant photos thanks to the wet, Autumn lighting for you to enjoy.
Again, this wouldn't have been possible without the incredible generosity and effort put in by the local community, and this is only here because of you guys. So thank you for what you've enabled us to do, now it's time for us to give back when it starts officially running next Sunday on Queens Birthday Weekend! We hope to see as many of you keen riders there. Hi all, big news for the 2017 Easter Holidays! Over both Easter Weekend and throughout the Easter School Holidays, we will be running trains! On the dates listed below, we will be running from 10am - 3pm weather permitting. This will be a great way to spend some of the extra time off over Easter Weekend with family, and to get the kids or grandkids outside during the School Holidays. At only $2 per ride, with concession tickets available, it's fit for any budget or family, big or small.
We hope to see you all these Easter Holidays folks! And the important part, the description on the page (along with the video) Hi everyone. As many may or may not have heard by now, we are buying a brand new club locomotive! This is your chance to really get behind the cause, and help us get a brand new train for the community to enjoy traveling around the track on! Check out this video from our members, to see why we need your help! Then head on over to our Give-A-Little page, where any donation massively helps! www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/cmestrain Hi all, the end of the year is drawing closer, and with that we grow closer to our final couple of running days. We will be running this Sunday the 10th, with your last chance to get a ride being the 18th of December, both days we run 10am - 3pm weather permitting. We then return in 2017 on January the 8th, ready for a big and bright year!

Thank you very much from all of us here, for coming along at any point in the weekend, to make it a truly amazing time! We also owe part of our thanks to the Twilight Christmas Market who ran alongside us and drew a huge number of people.
