Interested in Becoming a Member?

As a not-for-profit organisation, we're constantly looking for volunteers to help us run the railway. Have you ever wondered how these machines work or wanted to get involved in the process? We're looking for you!

What's involved?

We run every Sunday from 10am - 2pm Weather Permitting, and it's no small task! But with many things, our job can be made easier in numbers. We currently have volunteers ranging from Retirees to High School Students, and Electricians to Office Workers. Setting and packing up for running days, Clipping Tickets, helping with maintenance and of course, Driving Trains are all part of the jobs you could enter into, no matter mechanically minded or not. If you've got the ambition to volunteer for a little community group, you're sure to find that with us!

Learning to Drive

You're never too old to learn something new, as perfectly shown in this image. If you want to join and learn how to drive, we will guide you through the different stages of the Driver License system. From this, you will be able to drive our Club Locomotives, and also learn the skills and ability to become a safe and experienced driver. Eventually, when deemed ready, you can be brought up to speed on rules and regulations, and further trained to the point where you are able to pull passengers under supervision, and furthermore, alone. All of this for nothing but determination and commitment. In no time you'll be pulling trainloads of happy families!

Added Bonuses!

There's also more to gain from joining up as a member. You'll gain access to our monthly newsletter, featuring exclusive articles on around-the-club events, as well as other Model Engineering events around the country. You'll also be able to help with private charter groups when the public would otherwise not be allowed to ride during the week. You're also permitted to attend the clubs General Meetings, and even join the committee or higher roles should you feel committed. And of course, joining comes with a great set of people with a passion for Miniature Engineering and many things that can be learnt and built along with that!
